So, for the past couple of months I have been busy ‘Setting Up’ Points Darts. I have been on the coaching course, I have set up the company (I am trading as a sole trader right now). I have sorted out tax, banking, insurance, and all the other boring stuff. I have also been talking to venues and while I can run 1:1 sessions with adults at home, in my darts cave (Ali’s Pally), I wouldn’t coach kids there without an adult present. So I have been looking at venues where I can start running small academies and I have been building my portable board prototype that collapses and folds to fit in my car. I can’t find any other boards like that and, if successful, with 3 other boards all fitting in my car, I can open up many more venues for smaller group sessions with kids (up to 16 with 4 boards, 12 with 3 boards etc.). Then village halls, school halls, scout venues are all open to be used for kids training sessions, which could be very useful. I have 2 venues already secured, and will post more details when known. I have practiced coaching on family but yesterday had my first paid client. I think it went pretty well, he seemed happy with the advice he got despite being a decent player already and he left decent feedback. So all good, I am no officially up and running!
